Trying to find an original owner.

Hi. I am Keith Baumgarner, and own a 1964 GTO that raced at Niagara.

I want to restore it to its race car condition, but I need a lot of information. First,

  • I need to find the owner that painted and raced this car at Niagara.
  • I need pictures so I can replace the missing decals on both front fenders.
  • I need to know what brand and color the orange paint is. Also the yellow on the letters.

It is almost ready for stripping and new paint and vinyl roof, but I would really like to know more before I remove the history from the body.
Enclosed is a picture of "The Orange Crate", which currently sets in my workshop in Caledonia, NY.
And YES, that IS an original 1964 Pontiac 389 with 4 barrel on the engine stand in front of the car.
The chrome rocker covers were replaced with cast aluminum finned covers years ago. They were on the motor when I bought it a year after I bought the car. I found the man I bought the car from, but we can't find the man he bought it from, whom we believe is the creator of this Orange Crate.
Thank you in advance for your help. When I get it done, we will be at the Niagara Nostalgia reunion. If not this year, hopefully next year. I could also use some help in finding replacement decals. Perhaps there is someone out there that can provide them, either old stock or replacement new ones. (Edelbrock Manifolds, Champion Spark Plugs, Dixco Racing Instruments, Gratiot Automotive, STP, and the few that are missing)
